Once again mother nature provided a great day for paddling (in March) for our annual spring trip. Five hearty paddlers were rewarded with full sun, temperature near 60, calm wind, and beautiful water.
The lake was high with recent rain affording us the chance to explore deeper into some coves as well as explore / navigate some flooded brush. In the main āLā shaped cove the beavers have build an impressive 40ā dam. The large pond they created is about 2ā higher than the lake.
While we could almost see the Eagle Nest from the water, photographers told us one adult was in fact sitting on the nest. Sadly, the DNR said they have had to post more / larger signs trying to keep people away from the nest. Further, they stopped an individual from "providing" road kill for the Eagles !!! Explaining the negative impact this has and assuring the individual they are quite capable of surviving without "assistance". The Osprey return in late April or May.
Happy Paddling.
