Whitewater River - Metamora to Brookville

The put-in at Metamora is about one hour southeast of Indianapolis.
Difficulty: Moderate - There may be obstacle, strainers and logjams to negotiate.
Whitewater River is the fastest flowing river in Indiana so it seldom disappoints. because of the recent storms there may be log jams. Combining this with a fast moving current, participants should have good boat handling skills.
This approximately a 12 mile paddle. It should take about four hours to run after we get the vehicles shuttled.
Bring a lunch as we will eat along the river.
We will meet at the put in at 11am to run the shuttle. We should be on the water before 12:30pm.

After the paddle we may stop at a local restaurant if anybody is interested.

Suggested items to bring: Kayak or SUP, paddle, PFD, wide brimmed hat, sun block, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, large sponge, bilge pump or container to bail out water, water, snacks, weather radio, towel, change of clothes, water shoes, paddling gloves, rain gear, bug spray, safety whistle, dry-bags, Ziplock bags, camera, binoculars, rope, headlamp or flashlight, a sense of adventure, and a good dose of humor.
For clothing try to use something other than cotton, especially if the weather is cool. Polypropylene or polyester are good choices since neither holds water and they wick moisture away from you.

Event hosts reserve the right to cancel due to inclement weather. Any cancellation or adjustment to the schedule will be posted by email the night before or sooner.  This is a combined IYAK and HCKC event.

If you have not done so for this year, PLEASE FILL OUT THE NEW E-WAIVER.   HCKC is moving to a new electronic waiver system instead of our old paper waiver.  This only needs to be completed once each year.  If you have already submitted your e-waiver, you do not need to do it again until next year.  If you are bringing a non-member guest, they should use this e-waiver.
