Training: ACA L2/L3/L4 Swiftwater Rescue Course (1 and 2-Day Options)

ACA L2/L3/L4 Swiftwater Rescue Training at East Race Waterway in South Bend, IN

DATE: 4 and 5 May 2024

Great Opportunity for local and relevant safety training for all paddlers!

Minimum number of people for class: 6

Maximum number of people for class: 15

Total hours of instruction: 16 (two 8 hour days)

ACA Certified Course?  Yes

ACA Insurance to be provided through the instructors and included in fees

COST for the Course: $100 ($140 Non-ACA Members)  *ACA Annual Membership cost is $40, so the math is in your favor  www.americancanoe.org

Day One Group out-of-water instruction includes topics such as: Rescue Philosophy, Knots, Throw Ropes, Spine Management, Scenarios, Anchors

Day 2 to be in our boats on a river for more practical, in-the-environment instruction

Lunch will be provided on both days

Equipment required (Both Days):

Kayak with Spray Skirt, Personal Flotation Device, Helmet, Paddle, Appropriate clothing/gear for the weather, Throw Bag, Safety Whistle

Highly recommended but not required (please let us know if you do/do not have this gear):  Z-Drag Kit, Prussic Loops x 2, locking carabiner x 2, 15’ 1” wide webbing

Recommended but do not purchase if you do not yet have:  first aid kit
