This last weekend, the club camped out at Summit Lake State Park. We had a day paddle at Summit Lake exploring the lake as well as a Full-Moon Paddle Saturday evening. The weather was tremendous despite a bit of a wind during the day. During our evening paddle, we saw a mink and a beaver to go with the Osprey nest that we saw earlier.

For our full-moon paddle, we launch slightly before sunset and were treated to some amazing colors. The sky was clear for the full moon paddle so we were able to follow the trail of moon light back to our take-out when we returned. The Full-Moon Paddle was followed by a campfire complete with Jiffy Pop.
Summit State Lake Park is a great place to paddle since it is only 90 minutes out of Indy and restricts motorboats to idle speeds. There are also excellent camping facilities if you want to make a weekend of it.
