FROM THE SKIPPER....

It was 15 degrees this morning, not a great day to kayak. But, it is the perfect time to start planning for 2025! The fleet chairs,instructors and Board are already thinking about club wide events, fun trips and skill training.

What are you looking forward to?

Learning a new skill?

Trying out a new kayak or canoe?

Brushing up that roll?

Meeting new members?

Paddling a new destination?

Leading a trip?

Come and help us build our HCKC Calendar for 2025 at the Trip Planning Meeting January 18 at 1:00 pm. It is a fun afternoon for all members to visit with friends, meet other paddlers, exchange ideas about trips & training and to feast on a chili potluck lunch!

UPCOMING TRIPS & EVENTS

For those of us that like to start the New Year off with a good paddle, check out our New Years Day trip on the White River. Open to all paddlers (except please don't bring a SUP or sit on top), please be sure to register for this event if you wish to attend, since the trip may need to be cancelled if weather or flow conditions aren't good.Hoosier Canoe and Kayak Club - New Year's Day Paddle

2025 Trip Planning Meeting

Have a favorite river or waterway you want to share? Want to help train some newbies? We’re always looking for trip leaders, various volunteers, new rivers and lakes to paddle, new ideas, and section chairs and co-chairs.

We will be laying out our 2025 Trip Calendar on Saturday, Jan.18 @ 1:00 pm at Duane Garloch's home Duane's Address: 2755 Sawtooth Oak Circle Westfield, IN 46074-5854

Duane will be making beef chili. Bring a dish to share and BYOB.

Reserve Camping for Trips

As many know, campgrounds fill up quickly. If you are planning to attend the following trips, you should go ahead and reserve camping. All of these trips are on the HCKC calendar, so you can go ahead and register for the trips as well.

SK April 11-18 Spring Trip North Carolina Cedar Point

SK April 19-26 Kiptopeke State Park Virginia: Scouting Trip

SK (& Rec Kayak) May 30-June 1 Summit Lake Open Water Rescue and Intermediate Skills

SK June 28-July 6 Upper Peninsula Michigan Marquette & Fayette

POOL SESSIONS

Want a warm place to work on your roll, strokes, rescues? The last two pool sessions of 2024 are coming up Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. Yor can register on the club website.

ANNUAL MEETINGS

The 2024 HCKC Annual Meeting was held Nov. 10 at Forest Park Inn in Noblesville. It started with a Club Paddling Fair and Swap Meet. The regular meeting had interesting trip presentations, awards, recognition and remembrances, board elections, and a pitch-in dinner.
