Hoosier Canoe Club Pool Session Training

For the last several years the Hoosier Canoe Club has been sponsoring weekly pool sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM  for club paddlers.  The cost of a session is $5.00 per person.  While the pool sessions are focused predominately on skill refinement and individual practice for whitewater kayakers, the pool is available to anyone needing to work on their skills.  Recently, we have had some sea kayakers coming to the pool to refine their Eskimo roll and deep water re-entry techniques.  The expectation is that if you wish to use this HCC resource, you should become a HCC member.

Instruction in Flatwater Kayak Basics and Eskimo Rolling are available at the pool sessions on a reservation basis from ACA Certified Kayak Instructors.  Availability is limited due to the fact that personal boating equipment is used and the instructors do this gratis.  Instructors practice too!

A formal American Canoe Association Flatwater Kayak Workshop is held annually from mid-January through February.  This 6 week, 18 hour course of instruction is held on Saturday afternoons and provides students with all the skills and information necessary to move on to either whitewater kayak or sea kayaking.  The cost of this course is $100.00, and all equipment is provided.  This course is limited to 16 students and always fills up quickly, so early planning is highly recommended.
